SEPTEMBEr-December 2017 & January-may 2017
Welcome to CYS Dance! Get ready for an exciting year of dance lessons!
CYS Dance presents children with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Hula and Traditional Dance moves as well as instill a love and appreciation for dancing. Naturally, we also hope to see the dancers develop new friendships with each other through the course of the dance season.
This year, we are excited to add Hula in the fall season (September-December) to our dance program. In additional to our fall Hula class, traditional style Dance (ballet/tap, tap/jazz, jazz/funk) will be offered in the spring season (January-May).
Hula (Fall Season)
Come join us in learning the cultural art of Hula-Hawaiian Dance. Your keiki (child) will learn basic hula steps and Auana (Modern) dance routines that share the stories of Hawaiian culture. Your keiki will share a special Kalikimaka (Christmas) dance in a festive luau at the end of the session.
Ms. Maliē has been dancing since she was a keiki and has competitively danced in California, Washington, and Hawaii. She has previous experience teaching various ages pre-school-adults at parties, events, and cultural celebrations.
Hula classes will be held at the Akiyama Wellness Center on Friday afternoons.
Please register by August 28, 2016. If you have any questions about this program, please email email@example.com.
Dance (Spring Season)
We are pleased to have Theresa Hawker returning as our dance instructor! Miss Theresa has been with CYS Dance for over 19 years. She owns her own Dance Studio -- T & Company in Campbell.
The dancers will learn ballet or jazz and tap or jazz-funk. They will have many opportunities to perform for family and friends! Toward the end of our season, we will perform at various events like Nikkei Matsuri, Yu-Ai-Kai Birthday, the CYS Picnic and our End of the Year Performance & Potluck Dinner. All boys and girls 3 years (fully potty trained) and older are welcome to join.
Classes will be held either on Thursdays at T & Company Dance Studio in Campbell or on Fridays at the Wesley Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. This year, we are anticipating four classes. Classes will run 45 minutes in length.
Please register by December 2, 2016. If you have any questions about this program, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
